Yet another that no longer looks like a Cabriolet,
When you are driving this car and look up you will see the Targs Tops are still in situ, Steel top was welded over to accomodate The light unit.
This car was used at Le Mans.
Now resides in the collection at JDHT Browns Lane.

Found For Sale on October 08, 2012 on the car & classic website. Asking UKL 20,000 with 20,000 original miles. Listing says "We have for sale a very special Jaguar XJSC. Used in the 1985 Le Mans 24 hr race as the pace car. It is in original condition and has covered 20,000 miles from new. It is RHD in metallic Grey and on a 'B' Reg. Very good condition". Was previously kept at the JDHT Museum and was sold on July 25, 2009 at BST Towcester, Silverstone Race Circuit Collectors' Motor Cars by Bonhoms Auctions, Lot 343. Sold for £ 5,750 inc. premium. Listing said "1985 Jaguar XJ-SC V12 Cabriolet ‘Pace Car. Jaguar's first response to demands for an open-top XJ-S was somewhat conservative in engineering terms. The XJ-S had not been designed with an open version in mind, so a Targa-style arrangement was adopted, which retained a substantial roll hoop in the interests of maintaining rigidity in the absence of a fixed roof. Two removable roof panels were stored in the boot, and the Cabriolet did away with the Coupés two occasional rear seats in favour of a pair of luggage lockers topped by a parcel shelf. Essentially an exercise in niche marketing to test public reaction, the XJ-S Cabriolet's production was entrusted to outside specialist contractors, with bodyshells being transported back and forth across the Midlands before returning to the Brown's Lane factory prior to final despatch. The favourable response to the Cabriolet having demonstrated that there was indeed sufficient demand to justify production of an open XJ-S, Jaguar grasped the nettle and proceeded to develop a conventional full convertible. One of the first V12-engined Cabriolets, this particular example was built in April 1985 and was allocated to the TWR Jaguar Sport racing team, which modified it in a number of respects, including welding the roof panel. The XJ-S was used as a 'pace car' for many of the sports car races that the team entered and has covered only 19,500 miles, rarely encountering oncoming traffic! Offered with V5C registration document and seven past MOTs (the most recent 2007). Registration no. B503 TAC, Chassis no. 123453, Engine no. 85035397HB". Was the Jaguar Cars Pace Car.
