Prior to my purchasing our XJS in 2014, it had been registered from new in Pompano Beach, Florida. Prior to purchase I called the local Jaguar Owners Club to verify the car's condition, etc. Despite having won the XJS class in the South Florida Jaguar Owners Club Concours in 2013, the car was, and is, a high end driver quality car. My wife was in Fort Lauderdale at the time, and arranged to look at the car before we handed over any cash. She liked it, and the deal was done. Six weeks later we flew down to Miami, collected the car, and drove it out to Key West, up the Gulf Coast, and across Louisiana to Waco, Texas, before heading back to our home in Virginia. Aside from replacing a coolant return hose, the trip was uneventful and the car never missed a beat, and ran like the proverbial top. Because it was one of several cars that we own (Morgan +4, Bentley Mk. VI, Chrysler Crossfire) after the first few months the car was being driven less and less. Last year, between state inspections, the car was driven about 800 miles. It is, quite frankly wasted parked in my garage. It needs an owner who will drive it like it is meant to be driven, not park and polish it. It is a superb long distance touring car, with more than enough luggage space for two or three weeks on the road. It handles extremely well, and is probably one of the most comfortable cars I've owned in 50+ years of motoring.
