150,400 KILO, ON EBAY 05/07, SELLER WRITES:

Here is another of my cars for sale. This one is very different from the average 1983 XJ-S,in so much as this car currently enjoys the benefit of an XKE V12 Carburretted engine, mated to it's original 4 speed MANUAL SHIFT gearbox,and rides on TRUE JAGUAR knock off chromed wire wheels!

This car lived all it's life in Oklahoma,and Texas, until December of 2006,when I bought it. Now in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada.

The gearbox was shot,so I had that rebuilt by a Jaguar Master mechanic in OK City,at the same time the clutch was replaced,and all systems were checked and pronounced solid. The car has ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE! On my drive back to Canada, I had to replace the 4 tires and tubes,because the original tires were dry rotted and useless. The car drove me and my son home in great style and without missing a beat. We were really lucky with the weather, we left OK City on Sunday the 10th of December, and had NO inclement weather all the way home to Canada, and in fact when I got home to Port Hope, the weather was an unseasonable 15C! I put the car away for the spring and there she sat until I got her out in April to get the car safetied and recommissioned.

The car is fine in all respects save for the following:-

1/ Paintwork;

This has been painted in the ORIGINAL black,at sometime in the past, but the paint is awful on the hood,it is cracking, and I would repaint the hood.

2/ Engine;

Since storing the car over the winter, there seems to have been a problem that has manifested itself, in the right hand bank,on #3 cylinder.Namely a sticking valve. This is serious enough to warrant a valve job, and so I am pricing this car way lower than it appraised value.

The car was fine until trying to get her going after the winter layup. I changed the plugs and this improved things dramatically, but then there was some backfiring through the 3rd cylinder on the right hand bank. This is mentioned above.

This car is TOTALLY rust free, with BRAND NEW TIRES, Newly rebuilt 4 SPEED GEARBOX,with NEW CLUTCH etc. but a bad motor.

The car was appraised at CAD$10,000.00 before the motor started playing up. The component parts of the car are worth more separately, but I don't want to spoil the car, however, any Jaguar afficianados out there will know what I mean. I paid US$2500.00 for the gearbox rebuild and new clutch, which would have cost me DOUBLE that in Canada or in NY-NJ-PA.

The tires cost me US$700.00, still under warranty,receipts to prove, and I paid these monies ON TOP of what I paid for the car!

I am starting the bidding in CANADIAN funds, at the build year of the car, my reserve is way less than the appraised value for insurance.

DON'T FORGET, WHERE WILL YOU FIND A TOTALLY RUST FREE,

1983 XJ-S, IN CANADA, OR ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER?

Car returns to ebay 6/18/22

www.ebay.com/itm/165535663178

Opening bid C $18,000.00 Approximately US $13,769.89 no reserve 0 bids 6 days left in auction, seller dadsfarm4w9s, car now in Niagara On the Lake, Canada, previously Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. 106k miles.

Seller's description:

This is a project XJS, to be a Lister tribute.

Parts gathered over years of searching and work are:

 - rebuild 6 liter V12 from XJ40, never started, needs some finish assembly.

 - new Tremec 5 speed manual gearbox kit from The Driven Man

- manual pedal box

 - Lister Le Mans rims; 10/17 fronts and 13/17 rears. These need new bolts holding the barrels together. At this point smaller barrels could be used if a builder didn't want to do the required fender flares to fit the wide rims.

- complete interior kit from XJS Rouge edition

- body kit consisting of front and rear bumper covers, sill covers and side view mirror covers.

- new Be Cool single pass aluminum rad

 - new steering rack,

- most of the front suspension is rebuilt

 - Addco bigger sway bars for front and rear.

- 3 .07 open diff

Many boxes of parts, new and used.

This would be a big project to put together, or buy the lot and use the parts to upgrade/restore your own XJS.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
