Ebay item 3/5/23
Buy it now price $24,000, seller madmaxxx883, 42k miles
Selling my beautiful & rare 1987 Jaguar XJS V12 rare V12 convertible in arguably the best color combo: Ivory white on tan interior with a tan top. A sophisticated and timeless vehicle that turns heads with compliments every time you drive it, makes you feel like a true A-list movie star, and makes you forget you were even planning to get to point B.
Hess & Esenherdt:
From 1987-1989 Jaguar wanted to test the public's reaction to introducing a convertible model for their big seller, the XJS. For the first 3 years of production Jaguar sent out vehicles to Hess & Esenherdt in Ohio for the convertible conversion, which are trademarked by their completely fold flat roof design, which provides for a much sleeker and smoother body design than the 2nd gen convertibles released in 1990. It is estimated that roughly only 800 Hess & Esenherdt convertibles were produced, with likely less than half of those still driving on the road today.
Vehicle Background:
This Jaguar XJS was purchased by my grandfather in 1988 from the original owner with less than 500 miles on the clock. Since 1988 this car been a one family owned, CA, always garaged and meticulously maintained vehicle. The car currently has 43,000 original miles and drives like a sailboat: a smooth and calming cruiser that can still out some impressive speed. This car cruises the highway at 55, 80, or 100mph with no preference or effort.
Upgrades:
- Ed Nardi Wood Steering wheel - worth $2000 alone
- KYB Gas Struts
- Later Gen Convertible XJS underside x-bracing
Recent Maintenance:
33,644 - New Steering rack bushings
34,301 - engine oil change, new waterpump, new thermostat, all new engine belts,
35,994 - 4 new Sachs Shocks, Engine Oil Change, All new radiator system hoses, new coolant, bleed brakes, new sway bushings, AC recharged,
36,135 - 4 new Pirelli Tires
40,742 Miles - 6 new upgraded KYB Gas Struts (handles much better)
40, 742 - Full interior and exterior detail with 2 step leather cleaner and condition, clay bar exterior
41,081 - Late year Jaguar XJS convertible X-bracing fitted to underside to stiffen chasis
41,648 - Castol Full Synthetic Engine Oil Change
41,880 - Full detail, clay bar, paint correction and ceramic coat
42,105 - All new engine drive belts
42,498 - New Transmission mount
Current Issues:
- passenger seat stitching at bottom pad have broken - this should be a $200-250 repair
- AC needs to be recharged
- Windshield gasket leaks water (noticed when washing vehicle last)- this has always been a summer day only garage queen so I have not addressed this
